Last night the Democratic presidential candidates debated at Dartmouth College. One issue that accident victims and their families may want to focus on in the upcoming election is where the candidates stand in regard to so-called tort reform. Tort reform is a movement started by the insurance companies to limit an accident victim's access to the civil justice system and to limit the damages the victim is entitled to.

There are some influential constituencies in this country that agree with the objectives of tort reform. So if you have been the victim of a serious accident or even if you have not, you should make it your business to find out where the various candidates stand on this issue. Remember, that when one group of people lose their access to justice other groups can't be far behind.
