Selecting a Personal Injury Lawyer for Your Case

People who have been seriously injured in automobile accidents often have a difficult time choosing the right lawyer to represent them. What makes their choice so difficult is that so many lawyers run ads claiming to be experts in personal injury cases. How is the injured person supposed to figure out which of these attorneys is best suited to represent them in their case?

Injury victims should make it a point to ask the attorneys they contact how many personal injury cases they have tried and what type of results they have obtained. This does not mean that their case will necessarily end in a trial, in fact most personal injury claims do not. However, unless an insurance company understands that an injury victim's lawyer is ready, willing and able to go to trial and has had success at trial in the past, the company is simply not going to put his highest number on the claim. Viewed another way, insurance companies pay settlements to avoid risk and simply don't consider that they are at risk when they are dealing with lawyers who do not go to trial. So if you are talking to a personal injury lawyer about your case make sure to ask about how many cases he has tried and the results he has obtained. This can make all the difference to the insurance company when it is time to settle your case.
