Speeding on Route 9 and Car Accident Injury Law

Every one knows that the faster you drive, the better the chances of having a car accident, right? Nevertheless time and time again we see articles like the one in the Brattleboro Reformer on July 4th. Here's a short quote.

"The cars zip down the road, pushing the pedal down, going 60, 70, 80, 90 mph. No, it's not the Autobahn, it's Route 9 in Vermont. The twisting road, with its short stretches of passing lanes, has developed a reputation over the years as one of the most dangerous roads in Vermont."

Perhaps its time for a reminder that speeder's will lose their licenses. But that's not all. Much of the speeding referenced in the article occurs in residential areas. This dramatically increases the potential for pedestrians, especially children, to be serioiusly injured or even killed in car accidents. Believe me, no one wants that on their conscience.

The fact of the matter is that in the long run speeding saves very little time, especially on rural highways. So the next time you are driving on Route 9, ask yourself is the time saved by speeding worth the risk of losing your license, or worse causing serious personal injury or death to an innocent pedestrian or other driver.
